Sneha’s* family includes her husband, Rohan*, and their 9-year-old son, Aarav*. Originally from Karnataka, they now live in Mankhurd, Mumbai. The family faced serious challenges as they tried to rebuild their lives after a difficult situation.

Their troubles began when Sneha gave ₹30,000 to Mahesh, a man who promised to get her a job. When Mahesh failed to deliver and refused to return the money, Sneha and Rohan confronted him and warned they would file a police complaint if he didn’t return the amount. Instead, Mahesh filed a false complaint against them, accusing them of threatening and extorting him. Sneha was sent to Byculla Jail, and Rohan was sent to Thane Jail under serious charges.

During this difficult time, their son, Aarav, stayed with Sneha’s sister, Priya. The separation was hard on the family, especially for Aarav, who missed his parents and struggled without their support. Sneha felt lost and unsure about what would happen next, but she kept hoping for a way to escape her situation.

In August 2023, Sahaara staff met Sneha during a visit to Byculla Jail. She was attending an Adult Literacy class and shared her problems with the staff, asking for legal help. They visited her home in Mankhurd and saw the difficult conditions and the emotional stress Aarav was going through. Realizing the immediate need for help, Sahaara stepped in and arranged for Sneha’s release on bail, covering part of the amount.

After being released, Sneha faced financial problems and could not find work. In November 2024, Sahaara enrolled her in a vocational tailoring course and gave her a sewing machine to help her earn a living. They also supported Aarav’s education so he could continue his studies.

By December 2024, Sneha completed the tailoring course and started her own business. She began earning a steady income, which gave her the ability to support her family. Rohan was also released from prison and joined her in building a stable life for their son.

Looking back, Sneha says, “With Sahaara’s help, we found support and were saved. I feel stronger and more hopeful now.”

Sneha dreams of giving Aarav a good education, owning a home, and finishing her own studies. With the support that Sahaara has given, her family now has stability and the confidence to dream again. Her story shows how timely help and determination can change lives and bring hope for the future.
